Petzl has been recognized by the Access Fund with a 2003 Sharp End award, granted annually for outstanding leadership. The Access Fund honored Petzl America for the company's commitment to continuing support, outreach, and education of important access issues facing climbing environments nationwide.

“Petzl has really gone above and beyond in supporting the climbing community and climbing in general,” said Steve Matous, Executive Director of the Access Fund. “They have really promoted the type of activism that the Access Fund supports. Four things primarily earned Petzl this Award: The way they have included the Access Fund in with Roc Trip and made it a grass roots event that stresses stewardship, their large role the Castleton Tower Initiative, their support of our educational brochure series, and the active role they have played in the Wilderness Lands issues in Utah.”

“Environmental stewardship is one of the core values that guides Petzl America,” said John Evans, Marketing Director and head of corporate giving, upon notification that Petzl America was a Sharp End award recipient. “We're unbelievably pleased to be recognized by the Access Fund in this way for our efforts over the last year”.
