Pentland Group plc, the global brand management and retail group that owns the Berghaus outdoor brand and JD Sports Fashion, promoted Andy Rubin to the newly created role of Chairman of its brand management division, Pentland Brands.  Andy Long, currently COO of Pentland Brands, will succeed Andy Rubin as CEO.  Both will assume their new roles Jan. 1, 2015.

Andy Rubin, pictured on the right in the adjacent photograph, is a member of Pentland Groups founding family who has been with Pentland Brands for 23 years, including 16 as CEO.  Andy Long, pictured to the left, has been at Pentland for nine years, following roles at Procter & Gamble and Boots. He became co-President of Speedo in 2006.  He has been a member of the Pentland Brands Executive Team since 2009 and became COO in 2012.

Both Andy’s are leading a successful brand building organization which will produce record sales and profits in 2014 and has won various awards recognizing the team’s achievements,” said Stephen Rubin, chairman of Pentland Group plc. “We wish them continued success in their new roles and look forward to many more years of global brand building.

During 2014, Pentland Brands plc has been awarded the Best Overall People Management and Best Employee Engagement in the UK by the CIPD, ranked 8th best large place to work in the UK and 18th in Europe by Great Place to Work.  Pentland Brands was also a major contributor to Pentland Group winning its fifth Queen’s Award in 2014 for International Trade.
