Intercollegiate athletics programs at Penn State’s 19 Commonwealth Campuses have entered into a four-year partnership with Nike through BSN Sports for sports apparel and equipment. The agreement, which goes into place on July 1, includes numerous incentives in the form of discounts and rewards, along with incentives for on-field achievements and additional marketing and promotional opportunities.
The agreement, part of BSN Sports’ Collegiate Select program, aims to make BSN Sports a one-stop provider for all collegiate athletic, intramural, club and staff apparel and equipment for Penn State campuses across the Commonwealth.
“Nike is the official uniform, footwear and apparel provider for Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, and this effort helps us connect all of our Intercollegiate Athletics programs across the Penn State footprint,” said Kelly Austin, associate vice president for Commonwealth Campuses. “We are excited to partner with Nike and BSN Sports to strengthen the Penn State brand across Pennsylvania, as well as provide quality products to the over 2,400 student-athletes that participate within our Intercollegiate Athletics programs.”
Maureen Cooper, Penn State’s director of Commonwealth Campus Athletics, agreed that the new contract is part of a strategic effort to provide premier Nike equipment and outstanding BSN Sports services across the breadth of sports at Penn State.
“It also strengthens the partnership between two iconic brands and allows our campuses to enhance the student-athlete experience,” she said. “Student-athletes are some of our most engaged and hard-working students, and they are excellent ambassadors for our University.”
Todd Northrop, vice president of Collegiate Select at BSN Sports, added, “We are extremely excited to partner with Penn State and Nike to provide all Penn State member schools with the finest apparel and athletic gear. By partnering together, we are able to elevate the performance and impact of the Nittany Lions athletic program, as well as the student-athlete experience on and off the field or court. We are proud to be their partner.”
Penn State’s branch schools include Abington, Altoona, Beaver, Behrend, Berks, Brandywine, Dubois, Fayette, Greater Allegheny, Harrisburg, Hazleton, Lehigh Valley, Mont Alto, New Kensington, Schuylkill, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre, Worthington Scranton and York.
