Pelican Intl USA (fka Confluence Outdoor), the paddlesport company behind Wilderness Systems, Dagger, and Perception, began adjusting pricing on newly produced kayaks, effective June 4, 2025. The company said the price hikes are in response to ongoing economic pressures, including rising operational costs, sourcing challenges, and fluctuating tariffs.

“Over the past several months, businesses across the outdoor industry have continued to navigate volatile cost structures and a complex global sourcing environment,” the company said in a media release. “These realities have made it increasingly difficult to maintain stable pricing without compromising the level of quality and innovation that Pelican’s brands are known for.”

As part of this adjustment, the company will implement the following:

  • A price increase of up to 15 percent to all newly manufactured kayaks under the Wilderness Systems, Dagger and Perception brands,
  • Accessories will be subject to market-driven price adjustments based on fluctuating tariffs and sourcing conditions, and
  • Boardworks pricing will remain unchanged until further notice.

Pelican Intl USA stated that its existing built-in inventory will remain available at the prior 2025 pricing until August 1, 2025. After this date, the new pricing will apply to all inventory, including kayaks, boats and accessories.

“The last six months have brought ongoing cost pressures that we can no longer absorb,” said Frédéric Guay, chief commercial officer at Pelican Intl USA. “While we’ve worked hard to protect our partners from these impacts, adjusting our pricing allows us to continue delivering the product quality, service, and innovation our dealers count on.”

The company said retailers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact their sales reps for additional support and planning.
