Pearl Izumi, a manufacturer of performance cycling apparel and footwear based in Colorado, opened the application portal for its 2017 ambassador team. 50 athletes will be selected to help deliver the Pearl Izumi brand message.

The “Ambador” name is derived from an excerpt of the Pearl Izumi Pact, where athletes pledge to “Take the ass out of ambassador.” Ambadors will be asked to support and challenge others to #endureandenjoy365. For 2017, Pearl Izumi aims to select approximately 15 road cyclists, 15 mountain bikers, 15 triathletes and five relatively new riders across all abilities. The ambassadors will be selected for both their devotion to the sport and their ability to show and celebrate the love of hard work — a core value that all athletes share.

As part of its Endure & Enjoy brand platform, Pearl Izumi hopes to unite athletes under The Pact, a written agreement that encourages riders to focus on what’s important, take back the sport from elitists and endure and enjoy it in the purest way.

“We’re excited to launch the Ambador program based on the success of our grassroots Champions program we ran the past two years,” said Andrew Hammond, global brand manager. “We will share these athletes’ adventures, energy and insider tips to encourage riders around the world to spend more time outside on their bikes. We need the right type of riders to represent our brand values.”

The group will be expected to help write blog content, share photos and amplify Pearl brand messaging throughout 2017. In return, Ambadors will receive Pearl Izumi gear, Pro Purchase discounts, promo codes for friends and family, first looks at new product releases and other benefits to help them endure and enjoy their chosen discipline.

The application period for the 2017 Pearl Izumi Ambador Team will accept applications through December 18, 2016. The final members will be announced by the second week of January.
