Early season snowfall has jump-started specialty sales across the snowsports industry and Palmer Snowboards’ fall sales results were no exception. According to the first SnowSports Industries of America Retail Audit of the season, snowboard equipment sales between August and October were up 9% from the same time period in 2004.

The residual effects of last winter’s spotty snowfall and lukewarm industry results led to light pre-booking by retailers this year. However, record amounts of snowfall in some regions of the US coupled with anticipation for the upcoming Winter Olympics have fueled consumer buzz and as a result, Palmer has seen a strong demand for reorders this quarter.

“Good early season snowfall has helped push inventory through stores,” said Kevin Addy, VP of sales & marketing for Palmer Snowboards. “Everyone in the industry knows that snow drives business. But we’ve also invested heavily in new POS and sales training technologies that are creating our own momentum this retail season.”

According to the SIA report, Palmer Snowboards is one of the strongest brands in specialty sell-thru and continues to maintain their high US market share among specialty retailers.
