Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. reported that total sales for the five weeks of March of fiscal 2004 were $103.8 million, an increase of 22.8% over total sales of $84.5 million for the five weeks of March of fiscal 2003. Company same store sales increased 12.4% for the comparable five-week period ended April 3, 2004 with PacSun same store sales up 13.5% and d.e.m.o. same store sales up 3.5%.

Total sales for the first nine weeks of fiscal 2004 were $171.5 million, an increase of 24.4% over total sales of $137.9 million for the first nine weeks of fiscal 2003. Company same store sales increased 13.2% for the first nine weeks of fiscal 2004 with PacSun same store sales up 14.1% and d.e.m.o. same store sales up 7.1%.

Based on March sales results, the company is raising its first quarter earnings per share outlook to $.16 versus its previous guidance of $.14 and versus $.10 in the first quarter last year.
