Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. reported that total sales for the four weeks of July of fiscal 2003 were $83.7 million, an increase of 24.0% over total sales of $67.5 million for the four weeks of July of fiscal 2002. Company same store sales increased 15.1% for the comparable four-week period ended Aug. 2, 2003 with PacSun same store sales up 14.4% and d.e.m.o. same store sales up 22.0%.

Total sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2003 (13-weeks) were $234.4 million, an increase of 22.8% over total sales of $190.9 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2002 (13-weeks). Company same store sales increased 13.9% for the second quarter of fiscal 2003 with PacSun same store sales up 13.2% and d.e.m.o. same store sales up 21.9%.

Total sales for the first six months of fiscal 2003 (twenty-six-weeks) were $432.7 million, an increase of 22.7% over total sales of $352.6 million for the first six months of fiscal 2002 (twenty-six-weeks). Company same store sales increased 13.6% for the first twenty-six weeks of fiscal 2003 with PacSun same store sales up 11.9% and d.e.m.o. same store sales up 29.1%.

Based on July sales results, the company is now expecting to report second quarter earnings per share of $.25 to $.26 versus the company's previous guidance of $.23.
