Outdoor Retailer posted its ‘Health + Safety Plan” for the 2021 Outdoor Retailer Summer Show to be held this August in Denver, CO, which includes temperature checks and mandatory face masks.
“We look forward to seeing you at Outdoor Retailer Summer when we are safely together again,” the plan stated. “We are taking extra precautions, beyond those mandated by government and local authorities, including temperature checks and face masks required of all persons entering the building, without exception.”
The show’s organizers encouraging attendees to “allow extra time when arriving” due to the additional measures being taken to ensure the “health and safety of all attendees.”
Outdoor Retailer stated that daily temperature screenings “will be conducted upon entry for EVERYONE. You may not enter the show if you have a high temperature.”
The guidelines also state that:
- All attendees must be wearing a mask upon arrival and in the building at all times. Masks will also be provided if needed.
- Face shields, face masks with vent, bandanas and gaiters won’t be accepted.
- No hugs or handshakes are allowed this year. “Outdoor Retailer has a no-contact policy in place.”
- Outdoor Retailer plans to implement queue lines to ensure six-foot distancing is enforced.
- Transparent barriers on registration counters will be implemented for enhanced safety.
- Staff will regularly clean all equipment.
- Inside the show, measures call for attendees, to “stay at least 6 feet from one another, wash your hands often, cover your cough or sneeze, and stay home if you are sick.”
In February, Outdoor Retailer announced that it would return to its in-person event this summer although the timing was pushed back to August from June. Numerous virtual events were held in 2020 due to COVID-19.
In the February announcement, Marisa Nicholson, Outdoor Retailer SVP and show director said, “The health, safety and well-being of our community remain our primary focus as we plan for the Outdoor Retailer Summer show. This industry is eager to reunite and get back to the productive, in-person business they find at the show. Shifting two months later allows more time for exhibitors and attendees to plan participation while offering reassurance and a greater peace of mind in the opportunity to gather again.
“We are already working with Visit Denver and the Colorado Convention Center to ensure the latest recommended safety standards are in place for the August show, and we will take extra precautions beyond those mandated,” said Nicholson.
