Once the nomination period closes on December 29, 2017 at 6 p.m. PST, Adidas Outdoor and Boy Scouts of America work with Outdoor Retailer and a panel of snow and outdoor industry leaders to select the winners. Inspiration criteria is based on impact, creativity, service, technology, philanthropy, engagement, longevity, sustainability, activities, adversity and awareness. Previous award winners include Big City Mountaineers, Fred Becky, Jeff Lowe, Keen Footwear, Kris McDivitt Tompkins, Reinhold Messner, Skip Yowell and Tahoe Mountain Sports.
“We began the Inspiration Awards to recognize those who go out of their way to introduce outdoor participation,” said Greg Thomsen, managing director of Adidas Outdoor, U.S.A. “We know that often times, those new to the outdoors need a parent, a friend, or a scout leader, among others to make that first introduction to a hike or that first chairlift ride. We look forward to continuing this tradition now with the snowsports community. This event, now on the first night of the Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show, is an evening of celebration and a highlight of the show.”
“The Inspiration Awards is one of our favorite events and we are looking forward to bringing the snowsports community into the fold and celebrating the people and organizations that are helping to get more people outside,” said Marisa Nicholson, vice president and show director for all Outdoor Retailer events. “This event reminds us of the important work happening in our industry and we are happy that it will now kick off our new show that unites two special communities.”
