outdoor_ispo presented the “ispo Outdoor Awards” for the 12th time during the ispo winter 06 tradeshow. The most innovative outdoor products of the winter season 2006/07 were given awards for the Backpack, Accessories, Hardware and Textiles categories. Innovation, function, quality, technical solutions, user friendliness/operability and design were the criteria, which the international jury used for selecting the winners.
“AC2” from Arc´Teryx is the winner in the Backpack category. New materials, new construction and manufacturing processes as well as the resultant new, very purist design distinguish this backpack line. Arc´Teryx has used a lot of elements, which were developed for clothing and made ripe for production: laminating, punching, welding, etc. Above all, the technology has been developed to such a degree that no trace of gluing or welding can be discovered. Practically every single piece on the new backpacks is a “composite construction”.
“Mammut Pulse Varrybox” from the Mammut Sports Group AG won top honors in the Accessories category. The Pulse Varrybox wins over thanks to its refined technology and the extreme ease with which it can be operated. The completely graphic display, a permanent 360 degree direction arrow and the transmission of vital data make fast, easy and effective rescue of those covered by avalanches possible.
“G3 Targa Ascent” from G3 Genuine Guide Gear was named winner in the Hardware category. Thanks to its freedom of movement without resistance and an optimal pivotal center, the binding guarantees tireless ascent and very good downhill performance with its solid construction, wide distance between the axle bearings of the pivotal center and the locking mechanism without play. The integrated 3° wedge makes increased edge pressure and control of the skis possible, and simple handling and long-life of the bindings is guaranteed thanks to the extremely solid because simple construction.
“Fission LT Hoody” from Arc´Teryx won first place in the Textiles category. Fission LT Hoody protects with a longer cut, its helmet-suitable hood and 200 g/m² Primaloft for insulating extremely well against wind and cold.
The new Windstopper® Loft (developed especially for insulating jackets) on the outside blocks out the fiercest north wind. A lining made of Primaloft® Sport, a light and good insulating full-fiber fleece, protects against cold. The Hoody also has two large mesh inside pockets, in which you can also keep a drinking bottle warm. Inner, elastic sleeveband hems and the cord pull at the hems ensure that no drafts are possible.
The innovations can be seen in the special community outdoor_ispo at ispo winter 06 on the grounds of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from January 29 to February 1, 2006. outdoor_ispo will also honor the best product innovations with the ispo Outdoor Award at ispo summer 06.
