Outdoor enthusiasts have a powerful new, and absolutely free, tool literally at their fingertips when heading out for their next big adventure: iNeverSolo.

The brainchild of an outdoorsman, pilot and engineer, iNeversolo is an innovative online resource that lets you create a plan for your outdoor activity so that, if you don’t make it back when you said you would, an email and text alert goes out to the people you designate and they can track you down. iNeverSolo ensures that while you may be on your own outdoors, you are not really alone.

Imagined and developed by local engineer and licensed pilot, Jed Mitchell, iNeverSolo is built on the tried and true model of the pilot’s flight plan. Like the pilot who must inform others of his intended route, time in the air and ultimate destination, Mitchell believes the same planning is a must for the myriad of international outdoor types.

“The simple goal,“ according to Mitchell, “is to let others know where you’ve gone, in case you don’t make it back.” Virtually every day, says Mitchell, “I read a story about someone lost or hurt in the wilderness and the vast majority seem to have at least that one key thing in common: no one knew where they went. It’s such an easy problem to solve, and iNeverSolo does it.”

There’s no equipment to buy or device to carry and no monthly or annual fee; just a few minutes of your time to enter your plan and both you and iNeverSolo are good to go.

Outdoor users can enter and activate their plan with iNeverSolo for free; sponsors and advertisers cover the site’s costs. iNeverSolo’s sponsors include: Adventure Medical Kits; Bergans of Norway; FlyLow; GoMotion, Inc.; Rocky Mountain Events – producers of the Rocky Mountains’ Best Cycling Events: Tour of the Moon and the Copper Triangle; Rudy Project; Sanuk footwear; Steripen; Survive Outdoors Longer; and, SwimLabs.

You enter as much detail as you want or need, including: your specific activity (the site covers virtually every conceivable outdoor activity as well as such mundane events as blind dates, Craigslist exchanges and walking the dog), departure point, meaningful waypoints, planned route, ultimate destination, and planned time “out there.” Once you activate your plan, the clock starts ticking. If, for whatever reason – an injury, waylaid by a storm, lost – you do not “end” your plan in the designated time, iNeverSolo sends an email alert, first to you and then to your designated contacts. That alert lets them see your online plan so they know what you’re doing, where you’ve gone and where to start looking. Simple and smart, iNeverSolo might just keep you safe.

iNeverSolo is proud to have a select group of outdoor industry companies as its initial partners. These companies all recognize that a meaningful outdoor experience demands optimal equipment and preparation.
