Ōura has appointed Miklu Silvanto as its new chief design officer, effective July 29. In this role, Silvanto will lead the company’s software and industrial design teams and own the end-to-end member experience and visual design of Oura’s hardware and software products.
Silvanto will report to Chief Operating Officer Michael Chapp.
“Joining Ōura is a natural evolution of my life’s work to build beautiful models between human beings and technology,” commented Silvanto in an email to SGB Media. “I’ve long believed that a ring is the winning form factor for wearable health tech, and I’m thrilled to contribute to Ōura’s mission of empowering people with personalized health insights.”
Silvanto spent nearly 10 years working at Apple on Jony Ive’s Industrial Design team, leading the design work of several generations of MacBooks and the iPad Pro family of products, Apple Pencil and various input devices. After leaving Apple, he led design teams for AirBnB and Bang & Olufsen as chief design officer, building the company’s first internal design team. He then went on to found several companies, including Aivan, Vaarnii, and Elo Health.
“We are thrilled to have Miklu join Ōura as our chief design officer,” offered Chapp. “His impressive track record in industrial design, particularly his decade-long experience at Apple and his leadership role at Bang & Olufsen, brings invaluable expertise to our team. Miklu’s unique perspective on merging technology with human-centered design will undoubtedly elevate our product offerings and strengthen Ōura’s position as a leader in personalized health technology. We look forward to the innovative solutions he’ll bring to enhance our members’ experiences.”
