Orvis announced plans to close its only Chicago storefront located on the Magnificent Mile on July 24, according to Crain’s.

Orvis has signs outside of the store, located at 142 E. Ontario Street, advertising a “store closing sale.”  The company opened the retail store over years ago.

“Due to the changing retail landscape on the Magnificent Mile, Orvis has made the difficult decision to close our Chicago location,” Orvis told Crain’s in a statement. “We are grateful for the support of our associates, customers and the local community over the years.”

The closing comes as Orvis announced last October a restructuring that would involve the layoff of 112 employees, the closure of some of its retail stores and the discontinuation of its iconic catalog “to enable a smaller and more agile business.”
