Oros, the manufacturer of thermal technology for apparel, announced it would open a pop-up shop in Chicago’s Southport neighborhood on October 22.

Oros is known for its proprietary Solarcore insulation technology made from Aerogel, a material created by NASA to insulate craft in space. In partnership with the agency, Orose incorporates Aerogel into pliable Solarcore foam set into the brand’s clothing to provide heat with less layering and bulk.

The company uses anatomy-driven body mapping to incorporate Solarcore paneling into apparel to provide warmth where needed without sacrificing full range of motion. The pop-up shop will allow customers to touch and feel Oros’ Solarcore technology across its apparel line.

“After our successful pop-up in Chicago in 2019, we’re thrilled to be offering the Windy City another winter of top-notch apparel options to meet the frigid demands of the local climate,” said Oros’ CEO and Co-founder Michael Markesbery. “Chicago epitomizes the urban aesthetic and dynamic weather that we design and build our apparel to flourish in, so we couldn’t be more excited to make our return.”

In addition to in-store activations, Oros will host three product launches, including an urban-inspired men’s and women’s pant that doubles for work or play, a city-centric jacket with mountain aspirations and a snow-sports-focused bib and jacket collection for ski and snowboard.
