Orangetheory Fitness, the fitness franchise, announced its significant achievements in 2017, opening 294 new studios worldwide, as well as reporting more than $738 million in system-wide revenue and a 7.5 percent increase in same-store sales.

The company’s ongoing success has reinforced its position as the leader of the franchise fitness segment and accelerated its development efforts, signing 291 new franchise development agreements last year alone to propel its global expansion. This year, the leading fitness franchise plans to open 300 new studios worldwide, with a focus on international development in key countries including Germany and France, and is on track to achieve $1 billion in system-wide revenue by the end of 2018.

“Orangetheory Fitness’ explosive success has further established the brand as a truly exceptional concept with a strong business model that allows for tremendous growth. Less than 10 years since its conception, our brand has become the leader in the fitness industry, and the passion of our franchisees has been a driving force behind these achievements,” said Dave Long, co-founder and chief executive officer of Orangetheory Fitness.

2017 marked a significant year of development for Orangetheory Fitness, with the company signing its 1,000th franchise agreement, as well as a master franchise agreement to develop 70 studios throughout the United Kingdom over the next 10 years. As a result, the workout is now performed more than three million times a month by more than 600,000 members worldwide. Orangetheory’s growth in 2017 landed it a #1 ranking on Franchise Times’ 2018 Fast & Serious list, naming the company the smartest-growing brand in the industry.

Fueled by the explosive growth the brand has achieved, Orangetheory Fitness also relocated its global headquarters from Fort Lauderdale to Boca Raton, Florida last year. The 36,000-sq.-foot facility features state-of-the-art technology designed to foster a collaborative work environment, as well as an on-site Orangetheory studio where the company’s technology group and workout design team have the ability to test new equipment, wearable technology and exercise templates. To support the surge in franchise development, the headquarters also includes a franchisee training room equipped with the latest technology and capabilities to help new franchisees learn how to own and operate an Orangetheory Fitness.

“2017 was a huge year for Orangetheory Fitness, and moving into our new global headquarters has allowed us to expand our team alongside the company’s growth. We look forward to accelerating this momentum and going ‘all out’ as we take the brand to new heights in the years to come,” added Long.

Orangetheory Fitness launched its first studio in Fort Lauderdale, FL in March 2010, and has transformed into one of the world’s top fitness franchises, with more than 880 studios in 48 states and 17 countries. The 60-minute, five zone, heart-rate monitored, interval training concept has helped tens of thousands of members lose weight, get toned and meet their overall fitness goals in a short amount of time. The fitness franchise is on track to have over 1,130 open studios in 2018.
