Outdoor Retailer is partnering with SGB’s Outdoor Business to be the official publisher of its Winter and Summer Market show handbooks and on site show dailies, effective with the 2004 markets. This new partnership re-establishes a strong and consistent communication vehicle to the industry since the closing of Outdoor Retailer magazine last August.

“We wanted to put additional resources, editorial expertise, and a dedicated staff behind these products for our customers, and because of the shared corporate ownership this makes for a terrific in house partnership,” said David Loechner, president of the Sports Group that runs Outdoor Retailer.

Outdoor Business’ editorial staff, led by Mark Sullivan, Judy Leand and Emily Walzer, has more than 50 years experience covering the outdoor market. “These guys were around when Gore-Tex was first introduced, they saw the first swatch of Supplex nylon and have seen the outdoor business grow and evolve over the past 20 years,” said Marc Sani, the former publisher of Outdoor Retailer Magazine, who now heads up the team that produces the daily newspaper at each show.

“We see this as a wonderful opportunity to serve the market with valuable information, not just at the show, but throughout the year,” said Mark Sullivan, editor and publisher of Outdoor Business. Outdoor Business launched in November of 2002 to serve outdoor specialty stores and other sports retailers that carry outdoor equipment, gear, apparel and footwear.
