Former Cloudveil co-founder and president Brian Cousins has joined Opedix, a manufacturer of joint support athletic wear, as its vice president of business development. In his new role, Cousins will be responsible for all sales, marketing and product development initiatives for current products such as Knee-Tec tights and Core-Tec shorts as well as new products. He will lend additional strategic support as a member of the senior management team.

Cousins brings more than 20 years of expertise in the outdoor and ski industries to Opedix, including retail sales, product development, brand management, and business operations experience. As the co-founder and president of Cloudveil, Cousins helped pioneer new athletic wear innovations, such as the softshell outerwear category before selling the company to Spyder Active Sports in 2008. Since that time, he has worked as a consultant for several film production and new media businesses in his hometown of Jackson, WY and remains actively involved in the outdoor and ski industries.

I am excited to join Opedix and look forward to applying my skills to this unique brand of athletic wear,” said Cousins. “The work the Gustafson brothers and their team have done over the past eight years to refine and test their technology, and develop logical product applications, combined with an increased awareness of the importance of kinetic health, has created a very compelling opportunity. The timing is perfect.

According to company founder, Kim Gustafson, Opedix has been actively looking for someone with Brians skills and passion to help accelerate its growth and take advantage of our unique product technology.

Opedix President, David Gustafson, adds, An introduction from a mutual friend, and Opedix board member, Dave Engert, got us talking and it was immediately clear that we should try to figure out a way to work together. Todays announcement is the culmination of several months of discussions and we are thrilled to have Brian Cousins join the team.

Since 2004, Opedix has been inventing joint support technology to help active people stay active. In conjunction with nationally recognized orthopedic laboratories, Opedix has patented and perfected joint support systems integrated into athletic wear. This technology helps elite athletes and casual enthusiasts keep doing what they love, with less wear and tear, and reduced pain.
