Ocean Pacific Apparel Corporation announced it has formalized a licensing agreement with California-based Crown Crafts Infant Products, Inc., a leading infant furnishings and accessory veteran with 25 years in the business and established department, mass and specialty store distribution.

Under the agreement, CCIP will design, produce, market and sell infant furnishings and accessories under the “Opbaby” moniker, significantly adding to OP’s burgeoning youth-focused product line, which this year grew to include product extensions in infant and toddler sportswear and swimwear, as well as home furnishings, hosiery, loungewear and underwear.

The premier Opbaby collection brings a new wave in nursery decor that features tropical icons and California-inspired lifestyle themes styled in comfortable, easy-care fabrics.

“Our business has rapidly developed across all categories, spurred on by the increasing global relevance of the West Coast lifestyle and OP’s thirty-year tie to it,” says Andrew Lelchuk, OP senior vice president. “With the extraordinary design, manufacturing and marketing capabilities of CCIP, we suspect this segment of our business is going to be very significant.

“Op conjures good memories in today’s parents who love the look and feel of our fashions and connect with the Op lifestyle. The timing is right for OP to bring its popularity to an array of new merchandise with Opbaby, characterized by fresh contemporary designs that connote casual, easy outdoor living.”

CCIP President and CEO Nanci Freeman says: “We are excited about the creative partnership with OP. CCIP was looking to incorporate innovative lifestyle brands in its product mix, just as OP was planning a category expansion. It’s an exciting opportunity to bring something very new and different to the infant market.”
