The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce selected Oofos, the recovery footwear company, as one of its 2016 Small Business of the Year Award (SBOY) recipients.
The SBOY Awards recognize the achievements of Greater Boston’s smaller for-profit companies with annual gross revenues of more than $1 million. Winning businesses display strong financial performance, achievement in management, workplace excellence, product innovation and community and social responsibility.
“Small businesses are major drivers of our economy,” said James E. Rooney, president and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. “A true success story achieved through hard work, ingenuity and social responsibility, Oofos is a perfect example of the types of companies the Chamber honors for making Massachusetts thrive.”
Oofos, based out of Cohasset, MA, crafts their post-workout recovery footwear products, aimed at fitness enthusiasts and athletes, with Oofoam technology.
“It’s fantastic to hear from fitness enthusiasts, athletes, nurses, teachers and others who are on their feet all day to learn how much of a difference Oofos footwear has made in their daily lives. Our mission statement as a brand is to make you feel better, and their stories make all of us at Oofos feel better too,” said Oofos co-founder Lou Panaccione.
The 10 SBOY honorees will be recognized at an October 6 event called “Nailed It: A Conversation with Successful Business Leaders.” The event will take place at District Hall in the South Boston Waterfront from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Representatives from each of the Small Business of the Year winners will participate in panels where they will discuss topics such as taking risks, overcoming obstacles and growing and innovating in their businesses.
