Beth Jensen, senior director of sustainable business innovation for Outdoor Industry Association, has been selected to receive an Environmental Leader 75 award from Business Sector Media.
Each year the company’s editorial and management team honors 75 executives for their work in the environmental and energy sectors.
A leader in OIA’s sustainability efforts for more than seven years, Jensen has helped forge the path to sustainable business for OIA members by facilitating multiple topic-specific working groups as well as the overarching Sustainability Working Group (SWG).
In partnership with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), OIA’s SWG has been instrumental in developing the Higg Index, an auditing tool that has become an industry standard for measuring and evaluating sustainability impacts across the supply chain and is being adopted by outdoor industry brands and suppliers.
“I’m honored to receive this award. I hope it brings broader awareness to the outdoor industry’s collaborative efforts to improve global manufacturing and sourcing practices. The OIA SWG has pioneered the concept of pre-competitive collaboration for the benefit of the whole and is proving on a daily basis that businesses can be a force for good.”
Jensen and the other honorees will be recognized during the Environmental Leader & Energy Manager Conference (ELEMCON) May 15 to 17 in Denver, CO. Now in its second year, the program grew from 50 top executives in 2017 to 75 in 2018.
