OGIO announced that it has issued more than a dozen cease-and-desist letters to golf retailers and bag manufacturers throughout the U.S., which the company feels are infringing on the its patented Woode organization technology.

OGIO’s Woode Club Management System was issued patent number 6,877,604 B2 on April 12, 2005. The Woode organizing top consists of a stadium-style profile for wood containment, and egg-crate-inspired cradles for irons, to facilitate easy access and protect gear in transit. OGIO’s patented Putter Port – which elevates putters in plain sight amidst taller gear – is incorporated into the patented Woode top as well.

The cease-and-desist orders have been issued throughout the past six weeks and forewarn U.S. retailers and manufacturers to discontinue the sale of bags incorporating OGIO’s Woode top technology.

“OGIO invests a substantial percentage of its resources to research and development of new material applications, tooling, testing and designs,” explains COO Gary Bowen. “We are devoted to remaining the industry leader in bag technology and as such, we will we aggressively protect our intellectual property to the fullest measure by pursuing those who are insensitive to patent ethics.”
