October Golf Rounds Slide

According to Golf Datatech, golf rounds played during October was down 5.0 percent. Public access play was down 5.4 percent and private course activity was down 3.7 percent.

By region, the biggest declines occurred in West North Central, down 20.5 percent; followed by East North Central, down 15.3 percent; New England, 4.9 percent; Mountain, 2.7 percent; South Central, 2.4 percent; and Pacific, 1.7 percent. The two positive areas were Mid Atlantic, up 5.9 percent; and South Atlantic, 0.8 percent.

According  to  Golf Datatech, golf rounds played in October in the U.S. were down 6.5 percent compared to October 2010.  Public access play was down 5.9 percent for the month and private course activity was down 8.8  percent.

A total of 3950 courses are represented in this report.

Among regions, the biggest decline came in Mid Atlantic, down15.6 percent; followed by East North Central, 9.0 percent; South Atlantic, 8.4 percent; West North Central, 7.0 percent; New England, 6.5 percent; South  Central, 5.2 percent; and Mountain, 2.2 percent. The only gain in rounds played was seen in the Pacific, 3.3 percent.
