New York City Police seized over $12 million worth of counterfeit The North Face and other brand name apparel in a Garment District raid before Christmas. Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the raid to the press, saying that it was one of the largest counterfeit apparel seizures in NYPD history. The merchandise was being stored at a Manhattan Warehouse, but no indication was given as to the origin of the knock-offs.

Bloomberg seems to be placing a lot of focus on stopping counterfeiting in New York. Just before this most recent raid, the NYPD seized $1.3 million in counterfeit apparel at a local flea market, including fake TNF and Timberland labeled merchandise.
