The FBI has released its National Instant Criminal Background Check or August 2010. NSSF-adjusted figures show total backgroud checks were up 4.6% to 718,971 from 687,252 a year ago.
The adjusted NICS data were derived by NSSF by subtracting out NICS purpose-code permit checks used by several states such as Kentucky and Utah for CCW permit application checks as well as checks on active CCW permit databases. The NSSF said the adjusted data “provide(s) a more accurate picture of market conditions.”
