NSSF, the firearm industry trade association, named Richard Weimer, noted expert in federal excise tax compliance, to its compliance consultant’s team.
Weimer worked for 30 years in regulatory and compliance work in private business, including providing expert testimony before federal and state regulatory agencies. He then spent 15 years as lead auditor for the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, conducting federal excise tax compliance audits for tobacco and firearms and assisting in prosecuting various fraud schemes.
Weimer owns a consulting company that offers excise tax consulting services.
“We recognize our members’ desire to have an expert available to assist them with their excise tax preparation and filings, and I am confident that Richard can help with this process,” said John McNamara, managing director of Member Services with the NSSF. “The excise taxes paid by firearm and ammunition manufacturers to the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Trust Fund help support conservation efforts across the country. The NSSF is committed to ensuring our members have the resources they need to not only prepare and pay these taxes in a timely manner but also to ensure they’re not contributing any more or less than they need to,” McNamara continued.
Weimer’s consultant services are available to members of the NSSF.
