The National Snow Industries Association of Canada (NSIA) announced that is has opened the SnowPass program to a younger age group, now allowing children 9 years old to apply for the program as opposed to last year’s limit at 10 years old. In addition, NSIA will offer up to three coupons in the SnowPass book to be used over a two year span as opposed to one year.

With this change, NSIA predicts growth of the market would level off in year two to an expected 40,000 applicants. Research shows that SnowPass holders took an average of 3.3 trips to ski areas last season, totaling close to 274,000 additional paid days at Canadian ski resorts. The SnowPass Follow-up survey results report on average each SnowPass family spent $155 per outing, totaling over $18.5 million in revenue for the participating ski areas.
