Tom Izzo, Michigan State University’s (MSU) head men’s basketball coach, will kick off the 2018 NSGA Management Conference & Team Dealer Summit on Monday, May 21.

The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs, FL May 20-22.

Izzo, now in his 23rd year as head coach at MSU, will speak to attendees about rebuilding in a hypercompetitive industry and how college athletics is changing. During his Spartan tenure, Izzo has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments, including the 2000 NCAA National Championship, seven regular-season Big Ten Championships (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2009, 2010, 2012), five Big Ten Tournament titles (1999, 2000, 2012, 2014, 2016), seven Final Four appearances (1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2015), eight National Coach of the Year awards and a Big Ten record with 20 straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

In his 22 years directing the men’s basketball program, 85 percent of his players who completed their eligibility also left with a degree. In the last 18 years, 54 Spartans have received their undergraduate degrees. Izzo’s 544 wins are fifth most by any coach in his first 22 seasons in the history of college basketball. In November 2009, he passed his mentor Jud Heathcote (340 wins) to become MSU’s all-time winningest coach. In the NCAA Tournament, Izzo is at his best, winning at a clip of .712 to rank fifth among all active coaches with at least 10 tournament games coached. His 47 NCAA Tournament wins are the most ever for a Big Ten coach, and tied with John Wooden for seventh all-time.

A 2015 inductee into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, Izzo led MSU to seven Final Four appearances between 1999 and 2015, becoming just the fourth school in college basketball history to do it in any 17-year span, including just the third since the tournament field expanded to 64 teams in 1985. His seven Final Four appearances rank tied for fifth all-time, tied for third among active coaches and first all-time among Big Ten coaches.

A 1977 graduate of Northern Michigan, Izzo joined the Spartan program as an assistant coach in 1983. After 12 seasons as an assistant, the 1995-96 campaign marked his first season as head coach. On September 9, 2016 Izzo was enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, cementing his status as an all-time great.

The NSGA Management Conference & Team Dealer Summit will also include attendee favorite programming with the return of Speed Networking and the NSGA Innovations Arena. Speed Networking, in its second year, will give retailer and dealer attendees the opportunity to diversify their offerings when manufacturers and brands present their product in a timed rotation on Monday afternoon.

The NSGA Innovations Arena also returns in 2018, showcasing innovative industry products. Attendees will have the ability to visit the Innovations Arena throughout the day and connect with manufacturers. In addition to these opportunities, attendees can connect during meals, education sessions, receptions, golf and more.
