The National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA) announced the hiring of Jennifer Shaffer as comptroller. Chief Financial Officer Dan Wiersma retired from NSGA on August 1.
Shaffer came to NSGA from the accounting firm of Plante Moran in Chicago, where she worked since August 2012 and her primary responsibility was doing non-for-profit audits. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Saint Louis University in 2011 and her Master’s Degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University in 2012.
Shaffer also served an internship at NSGA in the summer of 2011.
“We are excited to bring someone with Jennifer’s expertise to the NSGA team,” said NSGA President & CEO Matt Carlson. “She has an excellent background from her work with non-profits and associations. Her familiarity with NSGA and the sporting goods industry from her time here as a summer intern is another plus in her transition to the association.”
Wiersma served as NSGA’s CFO since March 2013.
“We would like to thank Dan for his service to NSGA,” Carlson said. “Dan had a long and distinguished career helping various organizations and we wish him the best in his retirement.”
