The North Face named Baton Rouge-based Varsity Sports the winner of its Never Stop Exploring Award, which recognizes the specialty running store that demonstrates the most complete dedication to encouraging and enabling outdoor exploration within its community. The specialty dealer was selected for its commitment to the community and inspiring a healthy lifestyle for children and families.
“Varsity Sports regularly provides volunteers and donations in support of programs in Baton Rouge that inspire youth and adults to get outdoors and be active,” said The North Face Wholesale Director Jacob Uhland, who presented the award to Varsity Sports co-owner Jenni Peters at The Running Event 2016 conference and expo for running specialty stores in Orlando, FL last Thursday. “Varsity Sports is a great example and leader in their community. We’re proud to support them with the Never Stop Exploring Award.”
Varsity Sports is an active member in the Baton Rouge community, regularly engaging in local philanthropic activities and empowering young girls to realize their full potential through their participation in programs such as Girls on a Run. They are being recognized for their efforts to help youth in their community participate in activities that inspire and grow a love for running and outdoor exploration.
In recognition of Varsity Sport’s contribution to the Baton Rouge community, The North Face will donate $5,000 to help build community programs. The North Face created the Never Stop Exploring Award in 2010 as a retail-specific complement to the brand’s Explore Fund grant program for non-profits. It aims to encourage Running Specialty stores to initiate local community programs that break down the barriers to getting people outdoors. The award recognizes and supports retailers with programs dedicated to inspiring and enabling the next generation of explorers.
