Nordstrom is planning to open its first flagship department store in Manhattan. According to The New York Times, Nordstrom has signed a deal to open a
seven-story, 300,000-square-foot store inside a planned skyscraper on
57th Street, east of Broadway.

The store would be “about 20 blocks north of Macy's and well west of
Saks Fifth Avenue and the luxury stores on Madison Avenue,” according to
the Times.

“This is going to be a major store, they want to make a statement,” one insider briefed on the plans told the New York Post.

Nordstrom has opened a Rack and Treasure & Bond stores in New York City
in recent years.
