Nikwax, a producer of aftercare products for outdoor performance gear and apparel, and Protect Our Winters (POW) will be joining forces this fall to protect gear and advance the environmental awareness of snow sports participants.

Through consumer engagement and events, the two entities will share a message about enjoying winter activities while minimizing environmental impact.

POW will be a non-profit beneficiary of Nikwax this fall through consumer-facing events. Nikwax will educate snow sports participants on the importance of caring for their snow apparel while raising awareness and funds for POW.

In addition, both Nikwax and POW encouraged outdoor enthusiasts to register and vote through POW’s campaign “Drop in and Vote.”

“There is a natural alignment between the deep environmental commitment of Nikwax and the broad mission of POW around climate change education and advocacy. Enjoying winter is key to our customers and we’re pleased to work with POW to amplify their message,” said Nikwax President Rick Meade.

“We’re thrilled to be part of a consumer event series with Nikwax this fall,” said POW Executive Director Chris Steinkamp. “Our organizations share the same values of environmental responsibility and innovation, so working together gives us an opportunity to reinforce this message to consumers around the country.”

POW was started in 2007 by pro snowboarder Jeremy Jones, who became concerned about the effect of climate change on mountains. The organization is united toward a common goal of reducing climate change’s effects on the winter sports industry and local economies through education, advocacy and community-based activism.
