Nike’s chief diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) officer, Jarvis Sam, has exited Nike after only five months in the post, according to a report from Business Insider.

His departure was noted in an e-mail sent to Nike employees. Sam first joined Nike in October 2018 as director, diversity sourcing and programs director, diversity sourcing and programs.

Sam was the third diversity executive the company has employed since 2019.

Sam took over in June for Felicia Mayo, who was hired as Nike’s head of diversity from Tesla in 2019. Mayo succeeded Kellie Leonard, who was named Nike’s first DEI head after Antoine Andrews, formerly VP of diversity and inclusion at Nike, left in 2018. Andrews’ exit came following executive exits over workplace culture issues.
