Nike plans to open its first stand-alone retail location for its Nike Sportswear line this Friday, August 22nd. The store front, located at 21 Mercer Street in New York’s SOHO district, will be the only place globally to carry the complete Nike Sportswear NSW Collection.

According to a statement on nikesportswear.com, exclusive products being featured include the Flywire Windrunner, Air Max 90 Flywire and 21 Mercer Nike LunaRacer. The store will also offer limited quantities of other iconic footwear and apparel pieces like the made-to-order Air Force 1 Low Lux, the NSW Collection Patchwork M65 jacket and the Nike Sportswear 21 Mercer Tee collection. A new and innovative appointment-only design experience called Nike Sportswear Bespoke will allow consumers to work one-on-one with Nike designers to customize select Nike footwear styles.

Nike is also hosting an invite-only block party on the eve of August 21st to celebrate the launch of 21 Mercer Street, NYC. The event will feature a presentation by artist Robert Wilson and producer Noah Khoshbin, who the company said “rendered Nike’s innovations in the areas of sport and design into the energy of athletes – dancer Sofia Boutella, skateboarder Shingo Iwasaki and BMX rider Nigel Sylvester-creating a unique visual and sensory experience.”

Their project premiered at the Nike Sportswear launch in Beijing in May, 2008. Complimenting this work will be a series of projects by artists Timothy McGurr, Heron Preston and Boogie, inspired by New York sport and style.
