Nike Inc. has signed the White House Equal Pay Pledge.
The company issued a statement saying, “At Nike, diversity is about acknowledging and valuing our differences and appreciating that everyone brings unique experiences, perspectives and ideas to the team. Investing in our employees to unleash their potential translates into a pipeline of new ideas, methods and products that drive the future of sport.”
The pledge is part of the Obama administration’s push for companies to close the wage gap between men and women. Nike put forth that signing the Pledge is consistent with its company culture and what they stand for as an organization.
“We remain committed to equitable pay and rewarding performance across all roles, for all Nike team members,” the statement continued. “By signing the White House Equal Pay Pledge, we’re adding our voice to a movement that we hope will inspire positive change.”
