Jordan, a division of Nike, Inc., announced the addition of Carmelo Anthony to Team Jordan. Selected third overall in the 2003 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets, the 2003 Final Four Most Outstanding Player from Syracuse University signed with Nike in June 2003 and will now be a part of the Jordan family, donning the Jumpman logo and joining other elite professional athletes hand-picked by Michael Jordan to represent the Jordan brand of footwear and apparel.

Carmelo Anthony will be featured in Jordan's upcoming Holiday 2003 marketing campaign, appearing in print and television advertisements starting in October. In addition, Anthony will participate in the brand's public relations and community outreach initiatives.

Collectively, Team Jordan athletes go beyond the boundaries of their individual sports to embody the dedication to sporting excellence, innovation and achievement reflective of Michael Jordan's playing career and namesake brand. “Carmelo has established himself as a playmaker that thrives on the spotlight in the big game,” says Larry Miller of Jordan. “He has proven that he is a champion and we are ecstatic to have him join Team Jordan. Carmelo is the future of the NBA as he embodies the physical and mental approach to both the game and life that are representative of Team Jordan.”

While leading Syracuse University to its first NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, Anthony established himself as a force in the college ranks and a top NBA prospect. The First-Team All-American and National Freshman of the Year posted 22 double-doubles and scored in double digits in every game en route to averaging 22.2 points and 10 rebounds per game in a break-out freshman season. A native of the tough streets of Baltimore, 19-year old 'Melo' also collected hardware as the Big East Rookie of the Year, First-Team All Big East, NCAA East Regional MVP and set school records for rebounding and scoring by a freshman.

“Being part of Team Jordan is an honor, and I want to learn a lot from the brand as well as MJ himself,” says Carmelo Anthony. “I've been a Jordan fan for as long as I can remember and look forward to being a part of the brand's future.”
