Italian daily Il Sole/24 Ore reported last week that Nike Inc. is preparing a €400 million ($429 million) offer for Fila Holding SpA. The paper did not cite any sources.
The financial newspaper suggested that NKE would assume €280 million of Fila debt as part of the offer.

Morgan Stanley, NKE’s reported adviser in the deal, is preparing to declare Nike’s interest to Fila’s controlling shareholder, Holding di Partecipazioni Industriali SpA.

The Milan-based holding company has been trying to sell Fila for more than a year to concentrate on its more profitable media businesses.

>>> Rumors are rarely this specific, but Fila has had more suitors in the last year than J.Lo has husbands. The hot Enyce brand would be a compelling add to the stable and Fila would be an interesting avenue into the mass market
