Josh Simon, most recently VP and head of global strategy for product, design, merchandising and categories at Nike, has been appointed VP of consumer products for Netflix, according to a report from Variety.

He spent five years at Nike. He joined Nike in January 2015 as head of global strategic planning and corporate development and also served briefly as head of global category strategy. In his most recent role, his team included global categories, footwear, apparel, design, merchandising and operations.

Before joining Nike, he was president and co-founder of beverage company Function Drinks. Earlier in his career, he worked for DreamWorks Studios and Walt Disney Studios.

Variety said Simon at Netflix will oversee the team that has produced merchandise including toys, games and apparel supporting its original productions, including “Stranger Things,” “To All the Boys: P.S. I Love You” and “La Casa de Papel.”

He joins Netflix after Christie Fleischer, previously head of global consumer products, left last summer to become CEO of Benefit Cosmetics.
