Nike, Inc. has confirmed to Reuters and Bloomberg that it plans to lay off employees in its technology division. The shake-up follows leadership changes and layoffs that CEO Elliott Hill implemented as part of his turnaround plan to profitability.

A Nike representative told Reuters that some of the department’s work will shift to third-party vendors; however, the person did not specify how many employees would be affected.

Nike announced the layoffs internally last week.

Sources familiar with the matter, cited by Bloomberg, indicated that the layoffs span enterprise and corporate strategy teams within Nike’s tech division, which has been a focus for modernization in recent years, with investments in digital platforms, supply chain optimization and consumer engagement tools.

Since returning from retirement to take over as CEO in October 2024, Hill has appointed new heads for several departments, including strategy, human resources and sports marketing.

Muge Dogan, formerly of Amazon.com, Inc., will remain as the company’s chief technology officer.
