NICS Checks Climb 61 Percent In September

The FBI completed 1.63 million gun background checks on an NSSF-adjusted basis in September, a climb of 61.4 percent compared to the September 2019 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 1.01 million.

For comparison, the unadjusted September 2020 FBI NICS figure 2,857,953 reflects a 30.6 percent increase from the unadjusted FBI NICS figure of 2,189,028 in September 2019.

The third quarter 2020 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure of 5,165,308 reflects an increase of 74.8 percent over the 2,955,750 figure for the third quarter of 2019.

The September gain on an adjusted basis comes on top of gains of 51.2 percent in August, 122.5 percent in July, 135.7 percent in June, 75.2 percent in May, 69.1 percent in April and 41 percent in March.
