Accord to the National Golf Foundation, nationwide rounds played in July decreased 2% on a same-store basis over the same month last year. Rounds had been up 3% year-to-date through June, but the July slump brought the overall YTD number down to a gain of 1.8% over the same period last year. The worst performing regions in July were the Southwest, Lower Midwest, and Mid Atlantic. But not all the news was bad as four regions posted gains, including the Southeast and Central/South Florida.
