The board of directors of Leupold & Stevens, Inc. has announced the appointment of Calvin Johnston as president and CEO effective July 19, 2010.
Johnston joins Leupold & Stevens from roles as president of Galls Division Aramark Corp., and group president/CEO of Russell Athletics. During his career he has developed a track record of leading teams to significant growth in sales and profitability, according to Leupold.
Johnston earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida and his master's degree in marketing and business strategy from Northwestern University.
Johnston succeeds Tom Fruechtel, who will retire from the company at the end of 2010. During Fruechtel's 12 years as CEO of Leupold & Stevens, he put in place an outstanding executive team that successfully introduced numerous new products and significantly grew the sales and profits of the company. Leupold's board of directors is confident that this same team, working under the leadership of Calvin Johnston, will take the company to new levels of growth and profitability.
