Nemo Equipment, Inc. has added a North American sales manager and staff accountant to its in-house team, along with a new outside sales rep for the mid-Atlantic region.

Ben Saunders, previously from Ibex Outdoor Clothing, has taken the North American sales manager post, and Lorcan LaFleur has signed on as staff accountant. Nemo has also pulled in Karl Jones, former retail supervisor from EMSs SoHo store, to represent in the mid-Atlantic.

Growing up in NH, Ben has always had a strong connection to the outdoors. After graduating from UNH with a degree in Environmental and Resource Economics, he moved to Lake Tahoe. Eventually drawn back East, Ben committed to working in the outdoor industry, holding positions at Alpine Racing Technology, Proctor Academy and most recently, Ibex Outdoor Clothing.

Bens presence will give us more boots on the ground, allowing us to increase time with our sales force, specialty retail accounts, and international distributors. It will be a team effort, with Ben focusing on supporting our North American business, allowing me more time for development of our overall sales strategy, including expanding our international distribution, said Brent Merriam, senior director of sales.

A New Hampshire native, Lorcan comes to Nemo with a passion for numbers. Armed with an Associates Degree in Accounting/Finance, he spent three years as an accountant in the electronics manufacturing industry and another four in the real estate development world. Now embedded with the outdoorsy crowd at Nemo, Lorcan is ready for his next challenge. Outside of work, he enjoys tennis, movies, studying the fine art of professional wrestling, and spending time with friends and family.

“We are very excited to have Lorcan join the accounting team at Nemo. Like any small company, Lorcan will be wearing many hats, primarily focusing on receivables, payables and manufacturing processes. Lorcan will also play a major role in the implementation, launch and continued success of our new ERP system. Were already enjoying his commitment to accuracy and winning personality,” said Tina Bourgeois, CFO.

Addressing an opportunity in the mid-Atlantic region, Karl Jones from Invictus Outdoor will be servicing retail accounts in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. Formerly with Eastern Mountain Sports as a guide and then Camping & Travel Department supervisor, Karl brings with him a solid knowledge of the brand he used to sell in his store.
Im excited to have the opportunity to represent Nemo after watching the brand grow during my time at EMS. I have always been in awe of their ability to innovate and consistently deliver high quality gear,” said Karl.

Expanding its product line beyond tents and pads with sleeping bags and the Helio Pressure Shower in 2012, Nemos products continue to appeal to a larger customer base. Spring 2013 bookings are up 50 percent and sleeping bag forecasts are ahead of expectations. The direct-to-consumer Limited Edition launch of the sleeping bag line has shown retailers that demand for the product is strong and with the internal changes to its staff, Nemo has strengthened its infrastructure and delivery position in preparation for its most successful year yet.
