The Neiman Marcus Group, Inc. saw total revenues for the month of March increase 11.2% to $389 million from $350 million during the same month last year. Comparable store sales increased 7.4%.

In the five-week March period, comparable revenues in the Specialty Retail Stores segment, which includes Neiman Marcus Stores and Bergdorf Goodman, increased 5.6%. The company experienced the strongest sales trends in its stores located in the Western region and at Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan. The merchandise categories in the Specialty Retail Stores segment that performed the strongest included designer handbags, precious jewelry, women's contemporary sportswear and evening apparel and men's.

Comparable revenues at Neiman Marcus Direct for the five-week March period increased 19.2%. The top selling merchandise categories in the Direct Marketing segment included women's apparel, women's shoes and handbags, accessories and jewelry.

The company's five-week reporting period is consistent with last year and reflects a 4-5-4 week third quarter.
