For the third straight year, the Nautilus, Inc. Tulsa manufacturing
facility has been honored by the state of Oklahoma for its safety and
health achievement.
The Nautilus cardiovascular equipment manufacturing facility received
its third straight Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program
(SHARP) certificate from the Oklahoma Department of Labor. SHARP is a
workplace safety honor that provides a two-year exemption from
scheduled inspections by the federal Occupational Safety and Health
Administration. The Nautilus Tulsa facility is one of 35 manufacturing
facilities receiving the SHARP certificate. Oklahoma is home to more
than 4,000 manufacturing facilities.
Commissioner of the Oklahoma Department of Labor, Lloyd L. Fields,
commended the staff while presenting the honor. “Nautilus, Inc. is
among an elite group of Oklahoma companies to gain the coveted SHARP
status and understand the value of creating and fostering a safe
workplace for their employees.”
Also commenting on the honor was City of Tulsa Mayor, Kathy Taylor.
“Nautilus is to be recognized for their exemplary management commitment
to the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses and has achieved
injury and illness ratings below the national average.”
The Nautilus Tulsa facility is a 135,000 square foot manufacturing
operation employing 230 people in the making of 20 lines of commercial
cardiovascular equipment, including TreadClimber trainers, treadmills,
exercise bikes, steppers and step mills. In the past year, the facility
has reduced recordable accidents by 50 percent despite increasing
volume by more than 30 percent.
