Nature Valley granola bars and Karhu are the newest sponsors for Winter Trails, a program that offers those new to snow sports an opportunity to try snowshoeing and cross country skiing free at nearly 100 locations throughout North America. Winter Trails Day is set for
January 7, 2006. The program is organized by SnowSports Industries America (SIA) in conjunction with the Cross Country Ski Areas Association . and the American Hiking Society.

Winter Trails is part of SIA's “Winter Feels Good” campaign to promote the health, fitness and social benefits of snow sports. The campaign is entering its third year.

Nature Valley and Karhu join 12 other sponsors for the program including:
Atlas Snow Shoe Company, Alpina, Atomic Skis, Exel, Fischer, Mountain Safety
Research (MSR) Redfeather SnowShoes, Rossignol, Salomon, Tubbs Snowshoes,
Whitewoods and W.L. Gore and Associates. Winter Trails began 11 years ago
as a learn-to-snowshoe event at approximately a dozen locations nationwide.
It expanded to include cross country skiing last year. Founding sponsors
include Atlas, MSR, Redfeather and Tubbs.

“Sponsoring Winter Trails makes a lot of sense for us,” said Mike Dunn,
marketing representative for Nature Valley. “Our brand positioning is
closely aligned with educating the public about healthy lifestyle choices.
There is nothing more invigorating than a day outside on the snow.” Nature
Valley is a product of General Mills.

“Karhu is always looking for innovative ways to get children and adults
active with snow sports,” said Charles Lozner, General Manager of Karhu.
“Winter Trails accomplishes this mission by reaching out to youth and active
adult populations that are looking for a winter outdoor challenge.”
