National Golf Rounds Played Drops 6.8% in December

The Golf Datatech National Golf Rounds Played Report showed that in December, golf rounds played varied vastly between regions, with participation in the Pacific, Mountain, East North Central, South Atlantic and South Central regions decreasing and participation drastically increasing in the West North Central, New England and Mid-Atlantic regions.


According to the report, national golf rounds played in the U.S. were down 6.8% in December 2008 vs. December 2007, bringing the year-to-date total to a decrease of 1.8% from last year’s overall results.
The South Central region reported the largest decline in rounds played with a 13.0% drop from last year’s December rounds, while the West North Central region saw a whopping 73.1% increase in rounds played.
Other results included: Pacific (-5.9%), Mountain (-10.1%), East North Central (-5.8%), New England (+48.0%), Mid-Atlantic (+12.9%) and South Atlantic (-5.9%).
