Nathan, a leader in running essentials, expanded its athlete team with four elite ultrarunners – Zach Miller, Sage Canaday, Camille Herron and Jim Walmsley. As part of the multi-year agreements, the new team members will use Nathan gear during training and races while assisting with global marketing efforts.
“We’re proud to add Zach, Sage, Camille and Jim to the Nathan family. Each of these athletes are high character individuals and shining examples of the growing talent in the ultra community,” said Brent Hollowell, VP of marketing, Nathan. “We look forward to working closely with all of them to develop new products that help athletes at all levels live out our brand motto, ‘Run Stronger. Run Longer,’ and supporting them as they chase their goals.”
Zach Miller’s three-year career already includes wins at the JFK 50 Miler in 2013, the Lake Sonoma 50 in 2014 and the North Face 50 Mile Championship in 2015. Miller is the first American male to win a race at the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc alpine ultramarathon race series, winning the Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix in 2015 and the Madeira Island Ultra Trail in 2016. He will attempt his first 100-miler at this year’s UTMB race in August, and his all-out racing style is sure to thrill fans at the preeminent ultra race in the world.
Sage Canaday is a two-time U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier. Canaday’s career highlights include multiple wins, including the Pikes Peak Ascent World Long Distance Challenge and the North Face 50-mile Championships. Canaday won the Black Canyon 100k in 2016, setting a new course record.
Camille Herron’s career highlights include qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials three times and winning the IAU 50k World Championship and 100k World Championships in 2015. This season, Herron is making the transition to trail running, placing fourth at the Lake Sonoma 50.
Jim Walmsley’s young career includes winning five of his last six races, with course records in three of those wins. This season, Walmsley won and set a new course record at the Lake Sonoma 50 and made a lasting impact at the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run. He ran almost 30 minutes ahead of course record pace, through 93 miles, before missing a turn and going off course to foil his record-breaking attempt.
“We place great importance on working with elite athletes across all our brands, as they know firsthand the importance of reliable equipment,” said Tony Armand, CEO, United Sports Brands, parent company of Nathan. “Partnering with elite ultrarunners like Zach, Sage, Camille and Jim demonstrates our commitment to providing running gear that will perform under the harshest circumstances.”
