GoodLife Fitness, Canada’s largest fitness club chains, inked a deal with Myzone wearable company to offer GoodLife members and staff across Canada access to one of its fitness monitoring tools.
The Myzone tracker is a physical activity belt (worn around the chest) that tracks real-time data that is then displayed on screens around the club, or on the user’s smartphone. Through personalized, color-coded tiles, users view precisely what heart-rate zone they are in during their workout. The point of seeing this data is to monitor whether exercisers are working in their optimum zones.
The large screens are currently in select GoodLife Fitness clubs and will be in locations across the country in the coming months.
This data is also recorded within the user’s online personal activity report, accessible through the Myzone website or app.
Myzone joins a number of fitness companies entering the world of sharable fitness data, including Orangetheory Fitness and Technogym.
It seems the future of exercise is marrying data, and displaying your work for all to see for some friendly competition with the treadmill beside you.
“We are focused on delivering the most relevant club-based fitness technology to give the member the platform to hit their goals.” said Mike Leveque, COO and co-Founder, Myzone.
GoodLife Fitness is the largest fitness club chain in Canada and the fourth largest overall in the world. Its gyms include 365 doors from coast-to-coast, including GoodLife Fitness, Énergie Cardio, Fit4Less by GoodLife and ÉconoFitness Clubs.
