MVP Sports Club announced that company president Karl Droppers is retiring following 27 years of service with the sports and health management company. Effective September 1, Chuck Osterink, who formerly held the title of chief operating officer, was promoted to president, shown bottom right.

Droppers began his career with MVP Sports Clubs in 1996 as the director of RDV Sportsplex in Orlando, FL. He soon transitioned to VP of RDV Sportsplex and became MVP Sports Club’s president in 2004.
“It has been a pleasure to work for MVP Sports Clubs and the DeVos family for all these years,” said Droppers. “I’m excited for the leadership team to continue serving our communities and supporting our team members.”

“Thanks in many ways to Karl’s leadership over the past 27 years, MVP Sports Clubs has stayed at the forefront of its industry in providing members with unmatched options and value,” said Dan DeVos. “Karl has been extremely dedicated to the business, our team members and to making an impact in the West Michigan and Central Florida communities. It’s been a pleasure working with him, and we wish him an enjoyable retirement. We are equally excited to see MVP continue to thrive under the new leadership of Chuck Osterink, a long-standing executive within our organization.”

Osterink began his career with MVP Sports Clubs in 1999 as director of operations for the RDV Ice Den at the RDV Sportsplex in Orlando, FL. Osterink transitioned to VP of human resources and later to COO in 2021.

“I want to thank Karl for his leadership over these last 27 years,” said Osterink. “I am honored to step into this role and to work with our exceptional team members to continue to provide world-class facilities and offer exceptional member experiences that build on our vision of creating healthy communities that change lives.”

MVP Sports Clubs operates five membership-based athletic clubs across West Michigan, serving “over 25,000 members and employing just under 700 employees.” All five clubs are completing significant facility enhancements to deliver “the best member experience.”

“MVP Sports Clubs is dedicated to creating environments where our members can find community and thrive in achieving their health goals,” said Osterink. “I am confident that we can continue to be West Michigan’s leader in fitness and wellness.”

Droppers will stay on as an advisor through the end of 2023 to aid in the transition process.
